Carolyn Ann (Walls) Palmatary

Carolyn Ann (Walls) Palmatary, age 80, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE in 1943, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Harry and Grace (Blessington) Walls. She attended Alexis I. DuPont High School and later graduated from James H. Groves School and Delaware Technical Community College. Carolyn went on to become the co-owner of Hockessin Sanitation.

Spending time outdoors was one of Carolyn’s favorite things. She enjoyed retreating to her place at the beach and later she often went camping in her RV. Carolyn also liked to go snowmobile riding when the weather cooperated.

Carolyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Vera Palmatary of Yorklyn, DE; granddaughters, Sarah Ludlam of Summerville, SC, Jessica Codding of Summerset, NJ; and great-grandson, Gavin Ludlam of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by her companion, Dale Owen.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 10-11AM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A funeral service will begin at 11AM. Interment to follow in St. Patrick’s Ashland Cemetery, 1528 Ashland Clinton School Rd., Hockessin, DE 19707.
