Carmella M. Ramone Kozikowski DiOssi, age 95, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Kentmere Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
She was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1926, to the late Frank Ramone and Carmella Marie Capazza in Rockland, DE. She was the youngest of eleven children. She attended St. Joseph on the Brandywine. She worked for many years as a waitress in Wilmington, DE and Downingtown, PA. She retired in 2003 from the Three Little Bakers Dinner Theater.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed singing, dancing, crocheting and playing cards. She loved to watch wrestling, the Eagles and the Phillies. One of her passions was politics and campaigning with her daughter and son.
She was a member of the Women’s Democratic Club of Delaware and the Mid-County Senior Center, where she served on the site council for many years and spent many hours with her extended family.
To cherish her memories are her daughter, Dianne M. Kempski, with whom she lived, and her son, Michael E. Kozikowski, Sr. (Sherry). She also leaves behind her four grandchildren: Lynn Ann Kempski-Nowell (Kenny Bartholomew), Robert J. Kempski, Jr. (Tabitha), Michael E. Kozikowski, Jr. (Sandra) and Leda Eggold (Lisa); her eight great grandchildren, Nathan (Karla), Bradley, Samantha Nowell and Andrew, Rachel, Brady Kempski and Stephen, Madeline Kozikowski.
Carmella was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Ann Kozikowski (1983); her first husband, Edward J. Kozikowski (2003); her second husband, Alexander A. DiOssi (2008); her son-in-law, Robert J. Kempski, Sr. (2015); her brothers, Michael, Anthony, Carmen, Frank, Manuel, Louis, Patrick; and her sisters, Grace Redmond, Josephine Robertson, and Rose Jamarowicz.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 5-7pm at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A second visitation will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 from 9-10am at Doherty Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Carmella on Friday (9/24) following the second visitation at 11am at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 901 N. DuPont St., Wilmington, DE 19805.
