Carl L. Brzozowski Sr.

Carl Leon Brzozowski Sr., 88, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, November 14, 2025.  Born in Wilmington on August 4, 1937, he was a son of the late Charles and Helen (Korzeniecka) Brzozowski.

After graduating from Brown Vo-Tech in 1954 at the age of 16, Carl worked at Modern Bond Machine Shop, Haveg, Precision Tool and finally NVF – Wilmington Plant until retiring as a manufacturing engineer after 37 years of service.

Carl, affectionately known as “Wally” by close family and friends, was a Jack-Of-All-Trades.  He was always doing general maintenance side jobs – roofing, siding, plumbing, gutters, car mechanics, painting, carpentry, etc. – almost all self taught.  When not working on something, somewhere, he enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing, crabbing and the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.  In addition, Carl was a certified boating instructor with the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  He would also escape to his lower Delaware Frankford home for peaceful relaxation.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ann M. (Uryc) Brzozowski; his son, Carl L. Brzozowski Jr.; his daughter, Julie Vannicola (John); his grandchildren, Maddelyn Vansant, Mickey Vansant, Brian Brzozowski and Hope Brzozowski.  He is also survived by his brother, Paul Brzozowski (Bernadine); and his brother-in-law, Walter “Sonny” Uryc. 

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, Leon Brzozowski (Antoinette); and his granddaughter, Rose Michelle Brzozowski.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Monday, November 24 from 10:00 - 10:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
