Bonnie L. Kachmar, 73, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 25, 1952, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Theresa R. (Boyce) Klair and a proud lifelong Delawarean.
A graduate of John Dickinson High School, Class of 1970, Bonnie treasured the friendships she formed there—bonds that endured throughout her life. She built a long and dedicated career as an office manager for two construction companies before earning her medical billing and coding certificate and continuing her professional journey in the healthcare field.
Bonnie was a devoted member of the Friends of Brandywine Springs, inspired by her grandfather’s commitment to preserving the history of the Brandywine Springs Amusement Park in Wilmington. Honoring that legacy brought her great pride.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed days at the beach, shopping trips, dancing, celebrating the holidays, and cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies. Above all, Bonnie cherished time with her family, who were the center of her world.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her father‑in‑law, John Kachmar; and her son‑in‑law, Teddy Christopher. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 54 years, John R. “Jack” Kachmar; her daughter, Lisa Vickery, and husband Kevin; her son, Ryan Kachmar, and wife Nicole; and her cherished grandchildren, Delaney, Morgan Faye, John, and Alaina. She is also survived by her brother, Rodney Klair; her mother-in-law, Mary Kachmar; her beloved dog, Casey; and many extended family members and dear friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Griswolds Home Care, Gilpin Hall, and Accent Hospice for the compassionate care and support provided during Bonnie’s final weeks.
Bonnie will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 9:30–11:30 AM at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
