Betty J. (Blackburn) Miklasiewicz

Betty J. (Blackburn) Miklasiewicz, 81, of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.  Born in Wilmington on August 25, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie (Hufnal) Blackburn.

Betty was employed with the City of Wilmington Police Department as a civilian aid, having retired after 29 years of dedicated service.  She was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish.  Betty and her husband, Gene, were married for 37 years and were loving and devoted to their blended family.

Her husband, Eugene E. Miklasiewicz, passed away on June 24, 2020.  Sadly, Betty was also predeceased by her sons, Benjamin Pruitt Jr., David Pruitt and Robert Pruitt; her granddaughters, Amanda Pruitt and Samantha Smith; her great grandson, Davante Pruitt.

Betty is survived by her son, Michael Pruitt; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Pruitt; her former daughter-in-law, Colleen Pruitt; her step-daughters, Lorraine Devlin (Tim) and Cynthia Hamilton (Richard); her grandchildren, Benjamin Pruitt III and Christopher Pruitt (Kate); Aaron Pruitt (Leanne), Brandon Pruitt (Kaitlyn), Dora Pruitt, David Thomas, Robert Pruitt Jr., Jonathan Pruitt; her step-grandchildren, John Hamilton (Ellie) and Lindsey Schneider (Jordan); and a host of great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington on Thursday, May 4 from 9:00 – 10:00AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4th Street and Bancroft Parkway at 10:30AM, immediately followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
