Beth Young Obituary

Beth Ann Young, age 65, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Beth was born in Wilmington, DE on June 20, 1955. She graduated from Conrad High School in 1973 where she was a proud member of the Conrad Redskin Marching Band. One of her life highlights was marching in Richard Nixon’s Inauguration parade in 1973 where they played Cherokee.

After high school, she graduated from Del Tech’s Dental Assisting program and then embarked on a career in the dental field. It was at the Wilmington Medical Center in 1981 where she met her husband of 33 years and the father of her four children -- Arthur L. Young, DDS. Beth stopped working in 1990 to concentrate on her life’s passion of becoming a full time homemaker and mother; a journey she treasured throughout her life. After her children grew up, she became a doting grandmother to her two grandchildren – Julian and Nolan. In addition she returned to work at Newark Christian Childcare in 2016 as she always had an overabundance of love to share.

Beth was predeceased by her parents, Al and Jane Holliday. She is survived by the father of her four children, Arthur L. Young; her four children, Arthur L. Young III, Benjamin Alfred Young (Amanda), Dr. Andrew Christopher Young (Katie) and Samuel Adam Young; her grandchildren, Julian and Nolan, who will miss their loving Mom-mom. In addition she is survived by her brothers, Al Holliday (Marie) and Brian Holliday (Krista); her sister, Debbie Tabor (Dave); along with numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.

Beth wished to thank all of her loving friends and coworkers who were her support system through her final years, especially her Bunko friends and her Newark Christian fellow workers. Special thanks to B.J. Rowland, Janet Stead and Linda Squier whose thoughtful help and kind actions always brought a smile to her face.

Finally a heartfelt thanks to Andrew Young and Katie Scanlon who put their lives on hold so Beth could live her final days in the comfort of her own home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Beth’s name to the Delaware Autism Program, care of Brennen School, 144 Brennen Drive, Newark, DE 19713.
