Bertha E. (Ewing) Miller

Bertha (Ewing) Miller, 93, of Newark, DE, passed away on September 19, 2021, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel T. and Rebecca (Greenfield) Ewing, as well as her brother, Samuel “Tyson” Ewing.

Born and raised in Rockland, DE, Bert graduated from A.I. DuPont High School.  A short time later, she met her husband, John F. Miller, with whom she recently celebrated 72 years of marriage, and started a family.

Bert was most proud of her extended family and, in addition to her husband, is survived by her children, John (Sue) Miller of Newark, DE, Stephen (Carolyn) Miller of Talleyville, DE and Patti Miller (Linda Olenick) of Millsboro, DE; as well as 7 grandchildren, their spouses; and 7 great-grandchildren.  Bert also leaves behind her feline buddy, Telly.

It was well known that if you were a friend, coworker or teammate of her kids, grandkids or great grandkids, then you were a friend of Bert's for life.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Holy Angels Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711 on Friday, September 24 from 10:00 – 11:30am.  A Funeral Service will begin at 11:30am, followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Millcroft as well as the nurses from Vitas Hospice for taking such good care of her.
