Barbara Ann Kiser-Kasowski, known lovingly to many as Barb, was born on December 20, 1944, in Chester, Pennsylvania, and passed away on April 10, 2026, in Hockessin, Delaware. She lived a life marked by faith, kindness, and devotion to the people she loved, and she will be remembered with deep affection by all who were blessed to know her.
Barb was the daughter of the late Joseph Cieniewicz and Mary Cieniewicz. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Cieniewicz and Leonard Cieniewicz; and by her husbands, Richard S. Kiser Sr. and John C. Kasowski. Throughout her life, she carried the strength of her family’s love with her, and she remained connected to those bonds in a way that was steady, faithful, and enduring. She is survived by her children, Richard S. Kiser Jr. and Brian Kiser; along with her daughters-in-law, Heidi Kiser and Jackie Kiser. She was a proud grandmother to Nathanial Kiser, Relena Kiser, Amanda Kiser, and Stephen Kiser (Julianna Stape); and a cherished great-grandmother to Brianna Ryan and Alexis Deptula. She is also survived by her sisters, Felicia McLaren and Donna Williams; her brothers-in-law, Noah McLaren and Charles Williams; and her sisters-in-law, Nadine Cieniewicz and Sandy Cieniewicz.
Barb attended Saint Hedwig Elementary and High School, where she began the path of discipline, faith, and character that would guide her throughout her life. She later worked as a customer service representative at the News Journal, where her warm personality and dependable nature made her a valued presence among coworkers and those she assisted. She approached her work with patience and care, always striving to treat others with respect and dignity.
Her Christian faith was an important part of who she was. Barb lived with a quiet trust in God, and her life reflected the values she held dear. She was loving, thoughtful, and selfless, and those qualities were evident in the way she cared for her family and the way she interacted with others. Her faith gave her strength in times of joy and in times of hardship, and it was a source of comfort to her throughout her life.
Barb found happiness in the simple and meaningful things that brought people together. She enjoyed crocheting, and through her hands she created pieces that carried warmth and care. She also loved murder mystery dinners, where she could share laughter and conversation with others, and she enjoyed cryptic word puzzles that challenged her mind and reflected her curiosity and wit. These interests were a part of the rich and full life she lived, and they brought her many moments of enjoyment and connection.
Those who knew Barb will remember her gentle spirit, her steady presence, and the way she made others feel valued. She had a heart that gave freely, and she offered love in ways both large and small. Her family was central to her life, and she treasured every role she held as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her legacy is one of faith, devotion, and kindness, and it will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A traditional Christian obituary honors a life well lived, and Barb’s life was indeed a blessing to many. Though she has departed this earthly life, she is now at peace in the care of her Lord. May the memory of Barbara Ann Kiser-Kasowski bring comfort to her family and friends, and may her loved ones be sustained by the hope and promise of eternal life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
