Barbara L. Bonavitacola

Barbara Lydia Bonavitacola (née Gantz), formerly of South Philadelphia, passed peacefully into Eternal life on July 31, 2026, in Newark, Delaware.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John Bonavitacola, and her daughter, Susan Kutys. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Rev. John M. Bonavitacola of Mesa, Arizona; her daughter, Ann Procope (Domenico) of Hockessin, Delaware; her brother, Ronald Gantz (Mary); her sister, Lydia Lill (Ron); her nine grandchildren, Matthew Kutys (Sarah), Anna Godlewski (Karl), Gregory Kutys (Sarah), John Procope (Kelly), Mena Negron (Anthony), Biagio Procope, Barbara Rock (Alex), Gianna Procope, and Susanna Procope; as well as her twelve great-grandchildren.

Barbara devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Later in life, she enjoyed a career working for several credit unions before retiring. She and her husband faithfully served their parish community for many years through Marriage Preparation ministry and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Barbara also served as a Minister of Care, bringing comfort and companionship to the elderly and homebound. She found great joy in baking and was especially known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies, which became a favorite among family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, PA 19342. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the adjoining parish cemetery.
