Anthony Strzalkowski Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Anthony P. Strzalkowski, lovingly known as "Poppy," on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Anthony was the son of the late Casimir and Stella Strzalkowski.

Anthony married the love of his life at Silverbrook Methodist Church in September 1976. He was a dedicated professional, beginning his career as a proud truck driver with Preston Trucking Company 151 until 1999. He continued his service as a member of the Teamsters at the Port of Wilmington, working in harbor patrol until his retirement in 2014. Anthony was a proud member of Teamsters Local 326 in New Castle, Delaware, with 40 years of service.

Anthony found his greatest joy in spending time with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren. He cherished his dogs, enjoyed golfing, hosting gatherings, and backyard barbecues. A passionate sports enthusiast, he loved cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Phillies, and NASCAR. Family vacations to Myrtle Beach were a treasured tradition, as were going on day trips with his granddaughters and attending everything within their lives, sporting events and milestones.

In addition to his parents Casimir and Stella, Anthony was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Laurie; his father-in-law, Robert Wolhar; and his sister-in-law, Robin DeHart.

He is survived by his children, Nicole (Glenn) and Tony (Kristin); his cherished granddaughters, Brooklyn and Layla Strzalkowski, and Ashley Rodriguez; his brothers, Wayne (Nancy) and Dennis (Bonnie); his mother-in-law, Elsie Wolhar; his sister-in-law, Barbara Stone (David); and his brother-in-law, Bob Wolhar. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Ricky Strzalkowski, Tim (Erica) Strzalkowski, Laurie Branner (Kenny), Michael Stone (Amanda), Justin DeHart (Brittany), Kelvin Wolhar (Loanne); and his great-nieces: Maddie and Lexi Branner, Makayla Stone, Sadie DeHart, and Alana Wood.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Christiana Emergency Department and the F Wing staff at Coral Springs, especially Juanita Hernandez, Ms. Vicki Whitehurst, and Ms. Keisha, for their compassionate care and support. Special thanks are also extended to his roommate, Mr. Nick, whose kindness and companionship meant so much during Anthony’s time there. Their care and compassion will always hold a special place in our hearts.
