Anthony Francis Peel, Sr., age 90, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7, 2021.
He was born in Shenandoah, PA and was raised by his late Aunt and Uncle, John and Eileen Harkeli. He served honorably in the US Army and enjoyed a 40-plus year career with General Motors as a repairman.
In his free time, Anthony found himself repairing, fixing and tinkering with just about anything, especially automobiles. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his wry sense of humor, playful pranks, and his love of candy.
He is survived by his sons, Tony, Jr. (Diane), and John (Shelly); his grandchildren, Anthony III, Jacob, Katie, Matt, and Allison; and his great-grandchildren, Sophia and Madelyn.
Anthony was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Rosalie (Brennan) Peel in 2014; and his granddaughter, Sarah Rose Peel in 2019.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
