Anthony Gubitosi Obituary

Anthony “Tony” Gubitosi of Middletown, Delaware, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on February 1, 2025, at the age of 57. He was born on February 10, 1967, in Manhattan, NY, raised in Bogota, New Jersey and lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service.

He was a man of many talents and passions. During his high school years and many years later, Anthony was an active member of a bowling league, showcasing his competitive spirit and skill. He also contributed his musical talent as part of the marching band percussion section, bringing rhythm and energy to every performance. He was even a beatboxer.  His athletic endeavors extended to track and cross country, where he demonstrated his endurance and commitment.

After high school, Anthony, served in the United States Navy, reaching the rank of EM3 (Electrician’s Mate Third Class) aboard the USS Independence (CV – 62) in Philadelphia. With the skills acquired during service, he eventually worked at the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building, in Wilmington DE for over 2 decades. He was an Onsite Supervisor building engineer for several years and recently working for Raven Services which is contracted by GSA (General Services Administration) . Anthony was a workhorse and a strong force in his job. His dedication to his profession was incomparable.

An avid traveler, Anthony visited many states with his children.  He also traveled with his wife to the Caribbean Islands, many states and with her family to their home in the Philippines. He made friends and lasting memories everywhere he went. He made frequent visits to Florida to visit his only granddaughter, the apple of his eye. He touched many lives with his loud personality and remarkable sense of humor.

In his passing, Anthony was reunited with his parents, Arlene and James Sr.; brother, James Jr.; children, Sabrina and Charles; who all preceded him in death. He lives behind a legacy of love, and friendship which will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Anthony will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his spirit continue to inspire those who loved him; Rest in peace, Anthony.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Mayumi; his children, Samantha (and her husband, Rick Bourke), Tyler; and his granddaughter, Amelia Bourke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held privately.

In honor of Anthony’s fashion sense and colorful personality, feel free to wear pink or a bright pattern to celebrate his life.
