Amanda Frances Burrrows, age 13, went home to heaven on Friday, August 27, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Amanda was born with with severe congenital heart disease and was diagnosed with a host of other rare disorders throughout her life. Even though she was non-verbal, she developed her own style of communication and always made known what she needed and liked. Her personality would always shine through her beautiful smile and heart warming giggle. Through countless life-threatening surgeries and procedures, Amanda always persevered and astounded her doctors and family with her strength and sheer will to live. Her family worked tirelessly to provide her with every treatment, program and option available to give her the best life possible.
Amanda was very well known at her school, Newark Charter, where she drove through the halls, beeping her scooter. Her parents are eternally grateful to all of her teachers and therapists for the love, support and dedication they gave Amanda to help her be the best she could be.
Amanda is survived by her parents, Mary Beth Monsen and Jim Burrows; her sister, Gillian and brother, Alex; her grandparents, Jim and Elaine Burrows and all of her aunts, uncles and cousins. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Alda and Fred Monsen.
Amanda’s family would especially like to thank the Staff at both Nemours Children’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital for their tireless expertise and compassion in caring for her.
