Alex Ignacio Ruiz, age 21, of Newark, DE, passed away tragically in an automobile accident in the early hours of Sunday, September 12, 2021.
He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.
Alex was born in Wilmington, on the feast day of St. Rosa de Lima, and shared his birthday with his paternal great-grandmother. After his graduation from Dapps Charter School, he was serving as an electrician’s apprentice. He worked very hard to further his education and was set to complete his apprenticeship this year.
He enjoyed listening to music at full volume, loved his furry pets, and was very handy, especially with cars. He also took great pride in meticulously maintaining his family’s lawn and landscape. Alex had a colorful sense of style, often accentuated by his snapback hats and sneakers. He also had a quiet and sensitive side, but never strayed away from reaching out to family and friends to let them know he loved and cared for them. All of his neighbors and friends remember him by his acts of kindness and sympathy. His close family remembers him for his silly moments and random bursts of energy. He will be dearly missed.
Alex is survived by his parents, Julia Sosa and Ignacio Ruiz; his sisters, Yvette and Ashlee Ruiz; his maternal grandparents, Pedro Sosa-Rodriguez and Antonia Hernandez-Zaragoza; his paternal grandparents, Tomas Ruiz-Cortés and Brigida Aguilar-Torres; as well as many members of his extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear Christiana Road, Bear, DE 19701, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be held in All Saints Cemetery.
