Angelo Ralph Giofre, Jr., age 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Angelo and Stella (Nesci) Giofre. Ralph was a 1962 graduate of Salesianum High School and enjoyed a long and dedicated career as a service manager for automotive dealerships, ultimately retiring from the Porter Group in 2015.
Faith and family were central to Ralph’s life. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, where he served as a coach, was a charter member of the Youth Activity Council, and volunteered for many years at the annual Italian Festival. Ralph was also an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and relished the many trips to campus that he took with his family over the years. Sunday dinners and time spent together during the holidays were treasured traditions that he and his family always looked forward to.
Ralph was known for his charismatic personality and warm, welcoming spirit. A loyal friend to many, he had a way of making everyone feel like family. He loved to socialize, share stories, and spend time with friends, especially if there was music playing and a dance floor nearby. He never said no when asked to do a favor. His smile could light up a room, and his presence brought joy and laughter to countless gatherings.
Ralph is survived by his children, Angelo Ralph Giofre, III (Michele), Dominic Giofre, and Ann Marie Swift (Jason); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew (Monica), Ashley Rose, Dominic, Jr. (Kristine), Morgan, Luke, and Jude; his great-grandchildren, Angelo, Mackenzie, Hailey, and Kade; his brother, Francis; and many nieces, nephews, and members of his large extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith (McElwee), in 2011; and his siblings, Rose Piccirilli, Joseph, Vincent, Dominick, Theresa, Salvatore, and Anthony.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington, DE 19805, where a Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
