Therese M. Barilo, deeply loved mother, grandmother, and friend, died on Monday, November 13, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital at the age of 95.
Therese possessed the determined and generous nature of her mother, the kind and compassionate nature of her father and the strong Roman Catholic faith of both. Family and faith defined her purpose and meaning in life as she was a woman of steadfast prayer and unwavering conviction. She was the heart of the family and her home was a place of celebration.
Therese was a prolific reader sometimes absorbing as many as three or four books in a week. She was an avid counted cross stitch maker, sewing and giving away many homemade gifts to her family and friends.
For many years Therese worked two and three jobs at a time to help keep her family together. She was a member of Church of the Holy Child where she attended daily Mass and was past president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council #195.
In her later years, Therese continued to demonstrate the same type of hospitality and joy that she taught to her children and grandchildren from their infancy.
Therese is predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Charles Glenn, her two brothers, Charles Jr. and Frank and by her husband, Nicholas Barilo. She is survived by her two daughters, Cathy Bowing of Upper Chichester, PA and Mary Johnston (Deacon William) of Wilmington and by her two sons, Charles Barilo (Edea) of Wilmington and Nick Barilo, Jr. (Angi) of Kennewick, Washington. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Charles, Francis, Nathan, and Jayden Barilo.
