Shirley M. Lano

On May 18th 2019, surrounded by her loved ones, Shirley Lano, aka Gram, passed away peacefully at the age of 84. 

Born in Holton, Maine on January 20th 1935 to the late Arthur and Gladys Roy, she moved to Delaware after she married the love of her life, Fred Lano. Gram spent her early years as a homemaker and went on to help out at Jean Ferrells Dance studio. She enjoyed reading, embroidery and ceramics. Everyone that met her, loved her she was everyone’s “Gram.” 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Fred Lano and brother Donald Roy. 

She is survived by her “snoop sisters” Doris Dufresne (Marc) and Joyce Roy, brother, Joseph “Richard” Roy (Betty), sister in law, Carolyn Roy, several brother in laws, Angelo Lano (Judy), Fran Lano (Pat), Rocco Lano (Beverly), daughter Mary Ann Joswick (John), grandchildren Michael(Angela), Michelle(Blake), great granddaughters Mikayla, Abbigale and Jayden, daughter, Alicia Lane, son, Stephen Lano, an additional 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren  and a host of loved ones very dear to her heart. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 from 5-7 pm at the Doherty Funeral Home 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 29th 2019 at 10am at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 905 New Road, Wilmington DE 19805. Burial will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to All Saints Catholic School, 907 New Rd., Wilmington, DE 19805  in Shirley Lano’s memory.
