Sandra Schneider Lopez

Sandra Schneider Lopez, age 55, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, June 29, 2019 with her loving family by her side.

Born in Wilmington, DE, Sandy is the daughter of Edith M. (Hand) and the late John F. Schneider. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School Class of 1982, as well as Delaware Technical Community College where she graduated with an Associate Degree. Sandy was a dental hygienist, who had worked for various dental firms, but in recent years had worked with Dr. Nathan Pollock.

Family was the center of Sandy's world. She was an awesome Mom who always put her children first and was excited about becoming a Mom Mom for the first time. Sandy's smile could light up a room and always make your day better. She will be remembered for her fun and free spirited personality. Sandy leaves a treasured legacy as a beautiful soul who was humble and kind and lived her life full of kindness and strength.

In her leisure time, Sandy loved to be outside, especially at the Delaware beaches. She also enjoyed photography and traveling, especially to Italy. Sandy was an amazing cook who was known for her bundt cakes and empanadas. She also loved hanging with her beloved corgi, Oliver.

Sandy is survived by her daughters Ana Gabrielle, Daniela, and Natalie Lopez (Keith Clouthier); her granddaughter Payton Sandra Clouthier; her mother, Edith M. Schneider; her sisters Karen, Marie, Susan, and Lynn Schneider and Elizabeth Alexander; her brothers Tom (Linda) and Jack; her niece Nicole Schneider and nephews Glen Alexander and Anthony Damiani. Sandy was predeceased by her father, John F. Schneider.

Sandy's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors and nurses at the University of Maryland Medical Center for their compassion, kindness and care of Sandy and her family during her illness. The family would also like to do a special shout-out to Glen Alexander, Tyler Bristow, Keith Clouthier, and Cheyenne Toboll for their help and support throughout this difficult time.

Family and friends may visit from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, July 8 at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A Celebration of Sandy's Life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 9 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
