Ronald William Mullin, Sr., “Moon”, 72, of Newark, DE passed away on January 30, 2019.
Ron was born and grew up in Wilmington, DE. He graduated from St. Elizabeth School in 1965, which is where he met and started dating his wife of 50 years, Ramona. Right after graduation, Ron enlisted and began serving in the United States Marine Corps, spending a year overseas fighting in the Vietnam War. Upon his return home in 1968, Ron and Ramona got married. Ron began a 20-year career as a police officer for the Wilmington Police Department and then went on to serve as Chief State Detective for the State of Delaware for 28 years.
Ron was a loving father and pop-pop. It brought him so much joy to watch his grandchildren at their various sports and activities. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting with them on his porch creating things out of play-doh. Ron was a Boy Scout mentor and loved being outside; whether fishing, hunting, gardening, and taking meticulous care of his lawn.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona; sons, Ronald, Jr. (Shannon) and Raymond (Carrie); grandchildren, Reese, Casey, Kelsey, and Layla; and brothers, Dennis, Timothy, and Shaun.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will be held privately with Ron’s family the following day.
