Robert K. Hayes, Jr., 51, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, June 8, 2018.
Born in Wilmington on May 18, 1967, Bobby was a 1985 graduate of Thomas McKean High School and was employed as a machinist with General Machine, NVF, and for the last 18 years, Kraft Foods in Dover. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Parish, and a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, enjoying quality family time watching the Sunday games together. Bobby was a loving husband and father, a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. Recently, he had great fun teaching his daughter to drive. An avid outdoorsman, Bobby enjoyed fishing, boating, and was happiest while on the water. He also spent much time relaxing in his backyard observing the various wildlife and enjoying spending time with his dog, Luna. He was predeceased by his father, Robert K. Hayes, Sr.; stepfather, Joseph J. Romeo; and nephew, Victor Strengari III.
Bobby will be dearly missed by his wife of 17 years, Stephanie (Vaughn) Hayes; his children, Ashley and Michael Hayes; his mother, Paula Romeo; his sisters, Denise Strengari, Sherri Licht and husband, John. He is also survived by two nieces and five nephews; a great niece and a great nephew; aunts, uncles and many cousins.
In addition, we would like to thank the Cancer Support Group for all their love and support throughout the years.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, June 13 from 5:00-7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington on Thursday, June 14 at 10:30AM. Interment will be held privately.
