Rebecca (Beccy) Ann Lance Parrish, 56, of Hockessin, DE died on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 of natural causes. Rebecca was born in Oakland, CA on July 30, 1961 to Kenneth and Patricia Lance. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1979 and attended Boise State University. In 1981 she married Mark W. Parrish in Idaho Falls, ID. Their son, Mark William II, was born on 1/10/1984 and Christopher Loren was born on 1/28/1986.
Rebecca and Mark lived in Idaho Falls for the completion of Mark’s Naval Service. Rebecca and Mark moved around the country including Pennsylvania, Illinois, Nebraska, Idaho, Maryland, and Delaware. Rebecca graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Peru State College in 1988 and later pursued a Master’s Degree in Safety Engineering at the University of Idaho. She worked for the Department of Energy, United States Senate and DuPont.
She is survived by husband Mark, son Christopher Loren, son Mark William, daughter in-law Jennifer, grandchildren Victoria, Onna, and Josiah, and dear friend Nancy White. She is also survived by father Kenneth Richard Lance, sisters Debi (Chris) Butterfield, Elizabeth (Doug) Pitchford and brothers Timothy (Demsey) Lance, and David (Shawna) Lance. She was preceded in death by her mother Patricia Lance, and brother Michael Lance.
Rebecca enjoyed spending time with family, doing arts and crafts, listening to music, and eating at restaurants. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting museums, including a trip to France this year. She was an avid animal lover and will be missed by her four cats and dog. Rebecca’s greatest joy was her grandchildren, and she cherished daily phone calls with her best friend, Nancy.
A celebration of Rebecca’s life will be conducted at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 5:00PM. A period of visitation will begin at 4:30PM. She will be interred at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
