Patricia L. (Pat) Healy

Patricia Lou (“Pat”) Healy, nee Vickars, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018.

Pat was born January 17, 1931 in Wilmington, the daughter of Samuel Paul Vickars and Lucinda Parthemore Vickars.  She attended St. Matthews School and Ursuline Academy.

Pat and her recently deceased husband, Jack, spent many happy summers with friends and family at their cottage in Rehoboth Beach.  “Grandmom” often took the grandchildren (and great grandchildren) to the beach, while “Poppop” piloted family fishing and crabbing excursions in the Rehoboth and Delaware Bays. No matter what the size of the catch, Pat made it into a feast; her Stuffed Trout and Crab Imperial were family favorites.  Pat and Jack spent winters in Palm Beach Shores, FL where they enjoyed the company of dear friends from all over the country and Canada.  A generous, loving, fiercely independent couple, Pat and Jack lived their life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.

Pat is predeceased by her husband John Joseph “Jack” Healy, son, J. Patrick Healy and sister, Viola Vickars Lane.  She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Healy Vavala (Phil) and grandchildren, Kathleen Vavala, Phillip Vavala (Kate), Erin Sandlhauser (Marc), Meghan Diana (David) and Kate Fecondo (Brian), nieces, nephews and eleven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 8 at Saint John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd. Friends may call at 11:30 at the church. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s name to your favorite charity.
