Patricia Anne (Schaefer) Leone

Patricia Anne Leone, age 91, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in Dearborn, MI, she was the daughter of the late John and Matilda Schaefer.

In her earlier years, Patricia cherished being a mother to her eight children. She could always be found in the kitchen, where she loved making her homemade pizza, special family recipes for the holidays and Christmas cookies. After her children were grown, Patricia worked at Farmer’s Bank, where she started as a teller and worked her way up to Branch Manager.

For many years, Patricia and her husband, Anacleto, made their home in Virginia Beach, VA. She loved the beach and swimming in the ocean every day. Patricia was active in the community, where she drove the ambulance for the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad and was a Eucharistic Minister at her church.

In her spare time, Patricia loved gardening, especially flowers and tomatoes. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing and doing needlework. Patricia will be remembered for her devoted love for her family. She was a good mom, who treasured just being together with her family especially for the holidays.

Patricia was predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, Anacleto Leone, Jr.; her parents; her eight siblings, as well as one grandchild. She is survived by her children, Anacleto Leone, III, Patrick, Christopher, Daniel and Shaun Leone, Victoria Boyle, Celeste Hartman and Lisa Scully, and their spouses; her 21 grandchildren, her 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 21 from 10 to 11 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption, 7200 Lancaster Ave., Hockessin, DE 19707, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Shopping Center, Newark, DE 19711 or the Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 E. Siena Heights Dr., Adrian, MI 49221.
