Nancy Catalina Obituary

Nancy R. (Cheseroni) Catalina was born on March 8, 1941 to William and Anna Cheseroni.  After a short battle with metastatic bone cancer, Nancy went home to our heavenly Father early Tuesday morning, May 21, 2019.  Nancy attended high school at the old Wilmington High School, and would have graduated in 1959. She later obtained her GED.  Nancy was an entrepreneur, and had her own house cleaning business for 30+ years with her dear girlfriend, Eileen Giannattasio.

Nancy was a loving and caring mother, and a best friend to many wonderful friends, that she truly cherished. She lovingly referred to her best girlfriends as “sisters-of-the heart”.  They all loved her just as dearly in return.  Last, but not least, she was a great cook, who will forever be remembered for her delicious meatballs, spezzato, and pasta fagioli!

Nancy was pre-deceased by her parents, William and Anna (Judge) Cheseroni; her brother, William Cheseroni, Jr.; her nephew, Christopher Modesto; her former husband, Kenneth T. Catalina.

Nancy is survived by her four children:  Nicole Giannattasio (Gary), Victor, Kenneth, Jr. and Joseph; and her beloved kitty, Cello.  She is also survived by her sisters: Rosalie Modesto (Phil) and Carmella Lardi; her brother, James Cheseroni (Beatrice); her brother-in-law, Stephen Catalina, Jr. (Mary Ann). In addition, she is survived by her nieces and nephews:  Lauren Stang (Jeff), John Modesto (Kim), Justin Cheseroni (Nicole), Maria Catalina, Stephen Catalina, III (Tressa) and Dante Catalina; as well as many cousins.

We are so grateful to Delaware Hospice for their wonderful care of our mother. She looked forward to, and enjoyed their visits very much.  A special thanks to Beverly and Jen.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington on Thursday, May 30 from 9:30-11:00AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM.  Interment will be held privately.
