Michael J. Markowski, age 54, of Upper Deerfield, NJ, formerly of Newark, DE suffered from Cardiac Arrest and went to be with our Lord on Friday, November 17, 2017.

He was born on July 24, 1963 in Wilmington, DE and was the son of the Robert and Jeannie Markowski and his biological parents, H. James Calhoun and Mary Tucker Taylor.

Michael joined the Marines after he graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1982. He was known as “Ski” and specialized in high frequency radio communications as a Center Operator. He served his country overseas in the Mediterranean in the 22nd Marine Amphibious unit. He was honorably discharged in October, 1986.

Then Michael endeavored in the banking industry and was employed at JP Morgan Chase as a Tax Specialist. Michael was jovial and quick with his wit. His spirited humor was contagious and he was the “Life of the Party”.

Michael was hardworking and dedicated in all that he set his sights on. He was a supporter of Purple Heart, an avid fan of “Imagine Dragons” and the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was always sporting his marine “Semper Fi” cap. He mischevious blue eyes and infectious laugh will be sadly missed.

Michael was predeceased by his fathers, Robert Markowski and H. James Calhoun; his mother Mary Taylor Tucker and three sisters, Catherine and Patricia Calhoun and Barbara Keen.

He is survived by his sweetheart, Angela Thompson of Upper Deerfield, NJ, his former wife and dear friend, Geraldine Velastro Markowski of Bear, DE, his twin sister, Mary (Scott) Dobie, Diana (Tim) Peters and Regina Hogan, Rose Lang and Tom and Eric (Allison) Markowski and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and his nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 29 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd. Pike Creek from 10-11 am followed by a funeral service at 11. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
