Matthew Thomas Mairs

Matthew Thomas Mairs, 38, passed away peacefully at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center on Monday, January 29, 2018.

Born in Wilmington on June 20, 1979, Matt was a graduate of St. Elizabeth High School. He relocated to Bel Air, Maryland, three years ago and most recently made his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where he worked for Panera Bread.  He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed fishing and the beautiful beaches in Florida.  Matt was kind and giving.  He chose to be an Organ Donor and will continue to help others by his passing. 

Matt is survived by his mother, Erika Schaefer and her husband, Bob; his father, Thomas Mairs and his wife, Tanya; his sisters, Andrea Hutchison and her husband, Chris, and Christine Mairs; his brother, Brady Mairs; his beloved nephew and niece, Jake and Jenna Hutchison; his aunts, Mary Eustergerling, Monica Parisi, and Patricia Kramer and her husband Dennis; his cousins, Deborah Bender and husband, Jon, Amy Devlin and husband, TJ, Stefanie Airhart and husband Chance, Jeffrey McDaniels and his wife Sherry; and his great aunt, Caroline Short and their families.

Matt was predeceased by his uncles, Stephen Parisi and Kevin Mairs.

The family will receive visitors at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington on Friday, February 9 from 10:00-11:00AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM, followed by entombment in Cathedral Cemetery.
