Maryann (West) Lawson, 82, of Middletown, Delaware peacefully passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 with family at her side.
Maryann was born in Wilmington on November 28, 1935, one of eleven children of the late Charles and Thelma (Springer) West. She persevered through many surgeries during her childhood and, with courage and determination, lived a productive life filled with happiness and faith. Family was everything to Maryann, and she cherished the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a devoted homemaker and matriarch, she was always happy to host holiday meals.
Maryann was an avid bingo player and enjoyed watching golf on television. She also enjoyed trying her luck at the casinos and spending time at Delaware Park, as well as the former Brandywine Race Track.
Maryann will be dearly missed by her children, Charles T. Lawson (Mary), Jack L. Lawson, and Christine Lawson (Rob Blackwell); her grandchildren, Mark (Cindy), Stacey (Kevin), Josh (Heather), Kimberly, and Christopher (Chris); her great grandchildren, Lacey, Haley, Wesley, and Nathaniel. She is also survived by her sisters, Rita Coleman (Ken), Barbara Krawczyk, and Jean Dorris; many nieces, nephews and their families.
Maryann was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Jack W. Lawson; her son, Danny Lawson; her brother, Charles West; her sisters, Helen Connor, Thelma Brasure, Dolores Falco, Janet Wallace, Theresa McClain, and Frances Jeppeson.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, September 5 from 5:00-7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Thursday, September 6 at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery – Millcreek Hundred.
