Mary Ellen Keller Brehony, age 94, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019.
Born in Highspire, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mary (Etnoyer) Keller. Mary Ellen grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she began studying violin and piano. Her violin training continued at Yale and the University of Texas, where she was part of the university’s resident string quartet. After moving to Delaware, Mary Ellen taught music and history for many years at Conrad High School. She also worked as a church musician, gave private piano lessons, and performed at many venues as part of The St. Cecilia Players chamber ensemble.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Brehony. She is survived by her son, William Collins, her daughter-in-law, Priscilla Goldsmith, and numerous cousins.
Friends are invited to the visitation at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Tuesday, November 26 from 2:00-3:00PM. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM.
Interment will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery.
