MaryAnn George Obituary

MaryAnn George, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

Born in Chester, PA, MaryAnn was the daughter of the late John and Veronica (Smola) Lech. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School Class of 1959. Before retiring in 2012, MaryAnn had worked as a collections specialist with Bank of America for six years. Previously, she had worked for various banking institutions including MBNA and Bank of New York.

MaryAnn was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a fun Mom-Mom, who loved to spend time with her grandchildren from attending Grandparents Day at their schools to teaching them how to cook. MaryAnn loved to celebrate the holidays and have the family all together. She was an amazing cook known for her stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, potato salad and fudge.

MaryAnn will be remembered as hysterically funny with an amazing sense of humor. She had a very giving and generous heart. MaryAnn was loving and very affectionate but still raised her children by “old school” rules.

In her spare time, MaryAnn loved to go shopping, especially at QVC and the outlets. Every summer, she loved going to the Fenwick Island, where she enjoyed fishing and crabbing. MaryAnn treasured her collections of Hummels and bells. She also enjoyed watching Nascar and old movies like Charlie Chan and the Godfather. In earlier years, MaryAnn loved to dance to the oldies.

MaryAnn is survived by her son, Mark S. Tussie and his wife, Tonia; her daughters, Renae L. Nolan and Kelly M. Shelly and her husband Brent; her six grandchildren, Skylar, Chase, Ryan, Michael, Emilee and Matthew; and her sisters, Francine Dwyer and her husband, Jim, Tina Lambert and Debby DeSandre and her husband, Richard.
