Mary Sue Ingrassia, age 87 of Newark, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2019.
She was born on September 19, 1932 and grew up on a small farm in Bluefield, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late James and Sally Welch and was a graduate of Pocahontas High School. Her family moved to Delaware in 1953, where she attended Goldey-Beacom College and began working for the DuPont Company. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Joseph, of 52 years. Mary went on to become a stay-at-home mom and owner of a successful business, Margo Jewelers. She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and never missed an opportunity to see a game. She loved being outdoors and spent countless hours enjoying her garden. She was happiest when spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Horney, and son-in-law, Mark, of Newark; her son, Paul Ingrassia and girlfriend, Meylani, of Wilmington; her five grandchildren, Jacob Horney and wife, Sierra; Megan Adams and husband, Ryan; Luke Horney and wife, Shannon; Miranda and Nicholas Ingrassia; her four great grandchildren, Hayden, Harper, Luke and Beau Horney; and many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own children.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 2011. She was also predeceased by her twin sister, Barbara Sanderson, and her sisters, Iva Hoback and Ada Taylor.
A viewing will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 beginning at 10am at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30am with interment to follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
