Martha Ann Shockley, age 77, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 6, 2017.
Marti was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Kenneth and Katherine (Oneschuk) Devenney.
She was a graduate of Brown Vocational Technical High School and in addition to raising her family, worked as a branch manager at WSFS and as an executive secretary for MBNA.
Marti loved taking trips across the country in their RV; boating on the Chesapeake and “snow birding” in Florida with her husband, Bob. She adored animals, especially her various pets over the years.
She will be remembered as a very kind and loving person. She would do anything for anyone and was very warm and welcoming to everyone who knew her. She lived for her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “Mom-Mom Marti.”
Marti is survived by her children, Debra Bruhl (Martin), Scott Shockley and Ken Shockley; her grandchildren, Mark Iverson, Katie Shockley Cox (Ben), David Shockley, Sam Bruhl and Kalla Bruhl; and her great-grandson, Clay Cox.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob; and her sister, Arlene Cicconi.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
