Marjorie L. (Stevens) Sygowski

Marjorie L. (Stevens) Sygowski, age 94, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home early Friday morning, July 28, 2017 after a  long  and productive  life. She is survived by her grandsons, Charles W. and Steven Sygowski (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Sarah and Jonathan; daughters-in-law, Barbara and Linda Sygowski; many nieces and nephews.

A devoted wife and mother, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 55 years, Charles A. Sygowski; her sons, Charles J. and Thomas C. Sygowski.  Known as a meticulous housekeeper and talented seamstress, Marjorie took great pride in the maintenance of her home. She also enjoyed making special foods for her family to savor, especially over the holidays.  During the 1980’s, Marjorie retired from Kennard’s where she had been employed for 20 years. Also Marjorie often reminisced about her years working as a waitress in bygone Wilmington landmark restaurants including The Tearoom at John Wanamaker, The Red Barn, and Howard Johnson’s.  A longstanding parishioner at St. John the Beloved, Marjorie enjoyed praying the rosary daily.

Friends are invited to visit at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Thursday, August 3 from 10:30-11:45AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950 (www.stjude.org) or the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713.
