Lynn Allen Spayd

Lynn (Al) Spayd, age 72 of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.   He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Spayd and his mother, Pearl Scheidt Spayd.  

Al served in the Army from September, 1967 until December, 1974.  He had retired from Hellmark/Falcon Steel.

He was an active member of the Huguenot Lodge, #377, PA F&AM since January 24, 1974; and Temple Lodge #11, AF&AM, Wilmington since September 11, 1996.  Al was also a member of the Grand Lodge of DE AF&AM.  He also served on numerous Lodge and Grand Lodge Committees.  

Al was a cabinetmaker by trade and loved working on classic Corvettes. He enjoyed his vacations in Hawaii, particularly sitting on the balcony watching the whales and reading.  He also liked watching Phillies games.

Al is survived by his wife, Margaret (Cunningham); his brother, Ralph and his wife, Sandy; his brother, Bill and his wife, Roseanne; his son, Jeff; his daughter, Nikki and her husband, Alan; his daughter, Linda; his son, Michael and his wife, Jackie; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved Siberian Husky, Alaska. 

Al’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Francis ICU.  

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, May 23 from 9:30-11:00AM, immediately followed by a Masonic Service.  Interment will be held privately.
