Kimberly Lynn “Kim” Stubbs, 52, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 19th, 2018 at Heartland Hospice center after a courageous battle with lymphoma.
Born in Dover, DE on May 16th, 1965, anyone who knew Kim knew that her heart and generosity outshone all of those around her. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1983 and soon thereafter she enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for 7 years.
During her time in the Navy, Kim was stationed in California and Florida, which helped to encourage her love of travel; in her lifetime, she visited all 50 US states, and many countries in Europe, South America, Asia and the Caribbean. Kim was known by those close to her to always be planning her next cruise on Royal Caribbean, the company that she always traveled the islands with.
Kim is preceded in death by her stepfather, Gary Johnston, who passed away last year. She is survived by her parents, Grace Johnston of Landenberg, PA, and John Stubbs, Sr.(Debi), of Georgetown, DE; her sisters, Sheri Macintyre (David), of Newark, DE, Vicki Stubbs, of Manor, TX; her other siblings, Chris Johnston (Maryann), of Elkton, MD, Doug Johnston of Port Deposit, MD, Amy Spencer (Dean), of Colora, MD, Sarah Lammers (Scott) , of Elkton, MD, Lynn Carter, of Orlando, FL, John Stubbs, Jr., and Jennifer Stubbs of Orlando, FL,; her dear niece, Amanda MacIntyre, of Newark, DE; her nieces, Jenna and Kayla Raub, of Orlando, FL; and many extended family members.
A committal service will take place on February 5th, 2018 at 1 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel.
The family requests no flowers, but for donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Kim’s honor.
The family would also like to extend special thanks to the staff at Christiana Hospital in Delaware, and especially to the nurses of unit 6B for their care and support throughout Kim’s battle with cancer.
