Joseph J. Jackson, 80, of Townsend, DE, formerly a longtime resident of Palmer Township, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 7, 2017.

Joe was born in Abington, Pennsylvania on May 4, 1937, son of the late William H. and Marie (Gross) Jackson.  He was raised in Jenkintown, attended LaSalle College High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University.  Joe was employed with several companies throughout his career – Keasbey & Mattison Company, Certain-Teed Products Corporation, International Resistors Corporation (IRC), Allied Chemical Corporation, Merck & Company Inc., and Ogden Services Corporation.  Following his employment, he established his own business, Energy Dynamics Inc.  He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the New Jersey Association of Energy Engineers (NJAEE).

Joe was a former member and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and was a current member of Holy Family Parish in Newark.  A member of the NRA, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and skiing.  Joe was a skilled woodworker, could fix or build almost anything, and took great pride in the meticulous care of his lawn and home. He particularly enjoyed devising creative solutions to challenges and could always be found tinkering on a project or two.  He enjoyed playing the piano, playing with his grandson and great nephew/niece, and loved spending time with his family.  Joe’s sense of humor and fun loving spirit brought great joy to all who knew him.

Joe will be dearly missed by his wife of 46 years, Rose (Harkins) Jackson, daughter Lynn Facciolo and her husband David, and his beloved grandson, Patrick.  He is also survived by his brother, William F. Jackson and wife, Janet.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, May 15 from 4:00-6:00PM.  An additional visitation will be held at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark on Tuesday, May 16 from 10:30-11:15AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM, followed by entombment in All Saints Cemetery.
