Joseph R. Betley

Joseph R. Betley, born February 15, 1958, died May 31, 2017 in Newark, Delaware.  He was the son of the late John and Alice Betley, and was married to Regina Poppiti Betley for 33 years.

Joe was a graduate of St. Elizabeth High School and a life-long parishioner of the Church. He was happily employed as superintendent for Astec, Inc., working alongside his brother and sister-in-law for the past fifteen years. He loved traveling with his wife, laughing with his children and grandson, hunting on his family farm, and supporting the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. He also devoted much of his time towards Boy Scout Troop 285.

Joe is survived by his wife Regina, his children Sarah, Samantha, John Phillip, and Charlotte, his grandson Christopher Culley Jr., and extended family member Curtis Talton. He is also survived by his siblings, Marie Seymore, James and MaryJean Betley, Jean Betley, Thomas and Io Betley, Kathleen Elliot, William and Sandy Betley, Lydia Betley, Margaret Betley and Greg Weber, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, John Betley, Jr., Joan Williamson, Francis Betley, and his brother-in-law, Joel Elliot.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington on Thursday, June 8 at 5:00PM. Immediately following the service, a celebration of his life will take place below the church in Grant Hall from 6:00-9:00PM.
