John H. C. Lassahn, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018 in Seasons Hospice after a short illness.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Kathy; his daughter, Erin (Stefan) Hellstrom of Denver; his son, Jeffrey of Chicago; his grandchildren, Henry and Silas Hellstrom.
John was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late John and Oleta Lassahn. He graduated from Sykesville High School and went to Western Maryland College, where he received a BA Degree in 1966. Having completed 4 years of ROTC, John entered the Army and served in the 714th Railway Battalion in Ft. Eustis, VA for a year, and then in the 125th Transportation Command in Saigon, Vietnam from 1967-1968.
John had a lifelong interest in railroads and had a thirty-one year career with Penn Central as an Operations Control analyst, and with Conrail as a Service Design analyst and manager.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, September 14 at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
