Joanne Marie (Kasowski) Lukaszewicz

Joanne M. (Kasowski) Lukaszewicz, 78, of Wilmington, passed away February 22, 2018 at Saint Francis Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

She was born to Michael and Mary Kasowski on January 25, 1940 and in addition to raising her family, she worked for 35-plus years for New Castle County.

Joanne, better known as “Aunt Joan”, or “Mom-mom Luke”, lived every day to the fullest. She lived her life for her family. Her greatest enjoyment was calculating numbers to play the lottery - a trait she learned from her father. She also loved playing basketball, going to Delaware Park, dancing, watching old time movies, and being with her family and sisters.  After graduating from Wilmington High School in 1958, Joanne attended Lodi, New Jersey to become a nun. Even though she never became a nun, her faith in God remained strong.  Joanne always had a listening ear, and a kind heart. 

She is survived by her sons, John Lukaszewicz Jr of Wilmington, and Paul & Marianne Lukaszewicz of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Ashley Lukaszewicz, of Sudlersville, MD, and Paul Jr. & Tiffanie Lukaszewicz, of Federalsburg, MD; her four great-grandchildren, Abriella, Paul III, Timothy Lukaszewicz and Adelynne Lukaszewicz; along with her sisters, Ann, Geri, MaryAnne (Franny) and Dianne; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, March 2nd, 2018 at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington, DE 19805, where family and friends may visit beginning at 9:30am. Interment will be private.
