Jennie A. (D'Attilio) Mattioni

Jennie A. Mattioni, age 94, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 9, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Born in Downingtown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Ersilia (Zappacosta) D'Attilio.

Jennie was an accomplished homemaker and seamstress, as well as an excellent cook. She was a longtime parishioner at St. John the Beloved Church. Jennie enjoyed spending time at the Mid-County Senior Center, where she enjoyed having lunch, playing cards and going on the bus trips.

Family was the center of Jennie’s world. Her beautiful legacy that she leaves is her nurturing, loving and calming spirit. She was always there for her family and involved in everything her children and grandchildren were doing. Jennie had a caring and giving heart, who felt good to make others feel good. She was a shopaholic, who treasured her Sunday shopping events with her granddaughters. In her leisure, Jennie loved to travel and go on cruises. At one time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and painting ceramics.

Jennie was predeceased by her husband, Joseph D. Mattioni, Sr.; her parents; her seven siblings; and one great granddaughter. She is survived by her son Joseph D. Mattioni, Jr. (Deborah); her daughter, Judy A. Calcaterra (Jack); her two grandchildren, Kim (Mike) and Diane (Rob); her six great grandchildren; and her sister, Elizabeth Brown. Jennie’s family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice for all their loving care and Seasons Hospice for making her last few days comfortable.

Family and friends may visit from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday, August 14 at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington, DE, 19808, where Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Beloved Church.
