James L. Derickson, Jr., 83, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
Son of the late James and Mildred (Dennison) Derickson, Jim was born on December 23, 1935 on his family’s dairy farm, was raised there, and was a graduate of Conrad High School. The family farm later became Sherwood Park II, and staying faithful to his roots, Jim purchased a home in the development and remained there his entire life. He was employed with Coca-Cola in Wilmington, Adjust-a-Drape, and lastly Himont Pharmaceuticals.
Jim was a long time, dedicated member of Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church. He was an avid collector of toy tractors and enjoyed going to all types of tractor exhibitions. He also enjoyed time at Port Delmarva in Rehoboth.
Jim is survived by his wife of more than 59 years, Jean (Keith) Derickson; his children, Margi Potter (Mark) and Keith Derickson (Pam); his grandchildren, Laurie Potter (Jeff), Derick Potter (Shannon), Kevin Potter, Logan Cliffe (Jack); and seven great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Rodney Derickson (Gail); his sister, Mary Lou Boyce (Bill); his sister-in-law, Margaret Keith; three nephews and two nieces.
He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Clayton and Charles Keith.
A visitation will be held at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Friday, January 25 from 9:30-11:00AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
