James Lindsey Brooks, age 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2019 with his family by his side.
The son of the late Vachel and Fairy Mae Brooks, Lindsey was born on November 21, 1948 in Wadley, Alabama, where he spent the first few years of his life. His family relocated to Delaware when his father began working for the DuPont Company. Lindsey attended Dickinson High School. After graduation, Lindsey proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army from May 1968 to January 1970, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After his service in the Army, Lindsey went on to become a licensed plumber.
Lindsey was a hardworking man, in addition to his daily work, he was known for always lending a hand to help family and friends with their plumbing projects. Lindsey loved to fish, specifically bass fishing. He frequently competed in bass fishing tournaments and enjoyed being out on the water in his boat. Lindsey was a family and friend-oriented man and will be greatly missed by many.
Lindsey is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann Marie Brooks; his daughters, Chantel (Victor) Minio and Christy Brooks; his son, Brandon (Hope) Brooks and a multitude of friends.
A service in celebration of Lindsey’s life will be held at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 9:45am. Friends and family are invited to a visitation prior to the service beginning at 9am. Interment will be held privately.
