Harriet A (Lisowski) Hindsley, 79 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 7, 2017 with her loving family at her side.

Harriet was born in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Sigmund and Gertrude (Northam) Lisowski.

She was united in matrimony with Charles T. Hindsley on January 9, 1954. Harriet devoted her life to being a kind, compassionate, Christian woman. She took great pride in being a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, caring and nurturing mother and grandmother, and devoted friend. Harriet cherished the holiday and birthday gatherings that would bring all of her family and friends together in celebration. She touched the lives of everyone she met. To know her was to love her. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her beloved husband of 63 years, Chuck, she is survived by her children, Cheryl Peronti (Domenick), Cindy Fontana (Ron), Kim Alvarez (John) and Charles Jr; her sisters, Betty Unger, Margaret Gode, and Patricia Craig (Bill); her 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and members of her extended family, and a host of lifelong friends.

In addition to her parents, Harriet was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Saienni; her grandson, Justin Nally; and sister, Shirley Emery.

Harriet’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital; Compassionate Care Hospice, especially Diane and Chaplain Mark; and to Father Lewis and Father Piekarski, who gave personal medical and spiritual care over her last days.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
