Harold Dean Straszewski

Harold Dean Straszewski, age 58, of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly on Friday, November 24, 2017.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, Dean was the son of the late Daniel V. and Judith Mae Straszewski. He was a graduate of Messmer High School Class of 1977. After graduation, Dean began a 28 year career in the Air Force before retiring in 2005 as a Master Sergeant. For 22 years, Dean was stationed at Dover Air Force Base, where he worked on C-5’s with the 512 Airlift Command. Since 2005, Dean worked for Dassault Falcon in New Castle, where he was currently the Operations Manager.

In his spare time, Dean loved the outdoors, especially hiking and fishing. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing and loved classic rock. He was a talented carpenter and a proud Green Bay Packers fan. Dean enjoyed traveling all over and treasured his trip to Portugal with his wife, Grace. Dean will be remembered as a man of principle, who had a strong work ethic and was a great support system for his family and friends. He will be missed for his amazing sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh.

Dean is survived by his wife of 36 years, Grace M. (Nuha) Straszewski; his son, Vincent S. Straszewski (Norma); his daughter, Jaimee Y. Straszewski; his granddaughter, Ixchel M. Straszewski; his brothers, Daniel M. “Skip” Straszewski (Kristine), Nick J. Straszewski (AnaMarie), Jay T. Straszewski (Lucy); his sisters, Maureen F. Schulze (Lyle) and Michele M. Sonnenburg (Scott); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, December 2 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, where a Celebration of Dean’s life will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
