Frank E. Zurlo (May 25, 1922 - August 13, 2018), age 96, passed away on August 13, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Hockessin, DE.
Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived there, except for a two year stint dairy farming in Kerhonkson, NY during the Depression, until he was called to serve his country during the Second World War. He served in the US Army 99th Infantry Division from 1943-1946, and fought bravely in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon his return home, Frank pursued and married the love of his life, Marie, in 1948. They were married for 69 years before Marie’s death in 2017.
Frank was an artisan upholsterer for most of his working life and enjoyed traveling during his retirement. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid New York Yankees fan until the end. He leaves behind his four children Joanne (Jim Yager), Peter (Bonnie Parker), John (Margaret Kreher) and Marie Muddiman (Mark), ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters. Frank was beloved by all who knew him – and will be greatly missed.
Visitation hours will be at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington DE, 19808 from 5:00 until 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 16, 2018.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707 on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
