Evelyn L. (Reamer) Weber

Evelyn L. Weber, age 83, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday evening, December 21, 2017.

Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Jay W. Weber; her daughters, Linda Okner (Michael), Janice Vara and Nancy Baese (Chuck); her grandchildren, David, Melissa, Adam, Diana, and Bryson; her great granddaughter, Mara; her brother, Walt Reamer (Leslie) and her sister, Edith Smith (Paul).

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Walter and Edith (St. Clair) Reamer. She was a graduate of Upper Darby High School Class of 1951. For over 30 years, Evelyn worked as a dental receptionist.

For the past 49 years, Evelyn and her husband were members of Limestone Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon and an Elder, as well as a former President of the Women’s Association. She was also a member of the Daughters of the British Empire, the Silver Pine Garden Club and the Newark Versatile Homemakers.

Evelyn was a talented seamstress, who enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and needlepoint. She also loved music (violin and piano) and gardening.

Evelyn will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family, as well as her kind and gentle spirit. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, especially Christmas Eve dinner. Evelyn loved traveling world-wide and enjoyed the beach, especially family vacations on the Outer Banks and Chincoteague.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, December 28 from 5 to 7 PM at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE and on Friday, December 29 from 10 to 11 AM at Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Rd. A Celebration of Evelyn’s life will begin at 11 AM at Limestone Presbyterian Church. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Limestone Presbyterian Church.
