Evelyn Mae (Neukum) Lewis

Evelyn M. Lewis, 93 of Newark, DE and formerly of Springfield, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2017.

Evelyn was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, daughter of the late George and Eva (Solt) Neukum.

She was a dedicated military wife, devoting her life to raising her family and supporting her late husband of 63 years, Thomas P. Lewis. While living in Springfield, Evelyn was active in both her church and her community. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards in her free time.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Thomas A. Lewis (Kaye) of Arkansas, Pamela Salzman (Bill) of Dover, Denise K. Watts of Newark, Diane Cook (Mike) of Texas, and Mara Morrison (Roger) of Texas; her grandchildren, Adrieanna Lewis, Jennifer Cannon and Heather Williams (Jeff); her great-granddaughter, Anna Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and members of her extended family.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

A local memorial service and interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
