Edward J. Pochomis

Edward J. Pochomis, age 64, of Newark, DE passed away at home on Sunday, November 26, 2017 after a heroic 12 year battle with mesothelioma.

Ed was retired from the University of Delaware as a manager in Network and Systems Services. Before his employment at the university, he was retired as a police officer from the New Castle County Police Department.

Ed enjoyed the outdoors including fishing and boating. He grew orchids and was an avid woodworker.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eleanore and Joseph Pochomis, his sister, Adele Scutellaro, his niece, Lynn Scutellaro and his sister in law, Cathleen Earl.

 Ed is survived by his wife, Cynthia Twardowski Pochomis; his son, Nathan (Kristen) Pochomis, his daughter, Natalie (Jim) Kozlowski; his sisters, Christine and Stephanie Pochomis, his 3 grandchildren who were the light of his life, Evan, Emily and Eric; his brother in law, Skip (Beth) Twardowski and his mother and father in law, Louis and Victoria Twardowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 2 at 11:30 am in St. John’s Church, Main and Chapel Sts. Newark, where friends may visit from 10-11:30. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Helen Graham Cancer Research Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Rd., Newark, DE 19713 or Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Shopping Center, Newark, DE 19711.
