Dorothy "Dottie" Jean (Wood) Hallstead

Dorothy Jean Hallstead, age 92, of Wilmington passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 25, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

Born in Scranton, PA, Dottie was the daughter of the late Floyd and Elsie (Finch) Wood. She was an amazing homemaker and cook, who treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren. For the past 57 years, Dottie was a member of Limestone Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also was a member of the Blue Rocks Chorus for the past 55 years.

In her leisure time, Dottie loved traveling. Every summer, the family would travel all over the United States in their 26 foot camper. She also enjoyed her travels to Canada, Bermuda, Rio de Janeiro and Hawaii. Dottie was also an avid reader and music lover, whose favorite singer was Engelbert Humperdinck.

Dottie was predeceased by her husband, Wilbur J. Hallstead. She is survived by her son, James Hallstead (Brenda Jo); her daughter, Bonnie Stover; her grandchildren, Kristin Stover (Garland Puffinburger) and Kimberly Seely; her great grandchildren, Caitlyn Puffinburger, Laura Goines, Alexis Puffinburger, Garland Puffinburger, III, Ashley Seely and Robert Seely; her sister, Midge Morristill; and her nieces, Debbie (Mike)Graham and Brenda Morristill; and her great nephew, Ed (Nikki) Morristill. Dottie is also survived by her beloved dog, Candi; her bird, Nicki; and her granddog, Jamie.

Family and friends may visit from 9:30 to 10:45 AM on Saturday, September 1 at Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, September 4 at Fairview Cemetery in Factoryville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Limestone Presbyterian Church.
