Dolores M. (West) Falco

Dolores M. (West) Falco, 89, peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

Dee was born in Wilmington on New Year’s Eve 1928, the fourth of eleven children of the late Charles and Thelma (Springer) West.  She married her husband, Joe, in 1950 and raised their children until joining the workforce as a special education assistant.  She worked in the Red Clay School District’s Meadowood Program, having retired after eleven years of service.  A founding, dedicated member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Dee volunteered with many parish activities throughout the years, including the annual carnival and Christmas bazaar.  She enjoyed spending time at her home in Fenwick Island, boating, and keeping in touch with her large circle of friends, many of whom date back to grade school days.

Dee will be dearly missed by her husband of 68 years, Joseph F. Falco; her children, Marlene Devonshire and husband, Jake, Joseph F. Falco, Jr., Jacalyn Damico and husband, Michael; her granddaughters, Caitlin Devonshire and Meghan Devonshire.  She is also survived by her sisters, Rita Coleman (Ken), Mary Ann Lawson, Barbara Krawczyk, Jean Dorris; many nieces and nephews and their families.

Dee was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Wendy S. Falco; her brother, Charles West; her sisters, Thelma Brasure, Janet Wallace, Helen Connor, Theresa McClain, Frances Jeppeson.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Wednesday, June 6 from 10:00-11:45AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM, immediately followed by interment in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dolores may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Parish.
