Christopher F. Lynch, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 7, 2018.
Born in Wilmington on May 4, 1947, Chris was a graduate of St. Elizabeth High School and attended Delaware Technical & Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served our country during the Warsaw Pact Invasion of Czechoslovakia and beyond. Returning home, CL worked as an electrician. He was a proud member and enthusiastic supporter of IBEW Local 313.
Chris lived life to the fullest and pursued many hobbies and pastimes. He enjoyed fine wine paired with an exceptional meal, and was, as he would be the first to tell you, a great cook. Chris loved to travel and enjoyed skiing, horse racing, golf, vacations in the Poconos and Myrtle Beach, watching MSNBC and keeping everyone up-to-date on General Hospital. He was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, and a proud member of the Defiance Club, Mulrooney’s Golf League, and the Irish Culture Club. Above all, Chris relished the company of friends and family, especially his daughter and “P-I-C” (partner-in-crime), Tara.
In addition to Tara, Chris will be dearly missed by his devoted wife of 30 years, Patti Feeney-Lynch; his father, James A. Lynch, Jr.; his brothers, James A. III (Gale) and Thomas F. (Nancy); his sisters, Clare E. Szymanski (Michael) and Karen Phillips (Robert “Flip”). He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Dolores F. Feeney; his sisters-in-law, Sharon K. Feeney and Maureen Feeney Roser (Gary); five nephews; eight nieces; six great-nieces; two great-nephews; and a beloved group of friends.
Chris was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Mulvena Lynch; father-in-law, John T. Feeney; and nephew, Joel Houghton.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (Wilkes-Barre, PA) and the Heart Failure Program of Christiana Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion given to Chris.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Friday, June 15 from 8:30-10:15AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road at 11:00AM. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Chris may be made to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713 (www.heart.org).
